GEO-MRI | NMR Technology: Vista Clara Inc. "Train-the-Trainer" Programme

Updated: Aug 25, 2023

From the very beginning of our NMR-borehole logging measurements with Vista-Clara Inc. technology it was clear: "Someone here wants to know exactly how everything works!"

Our young colleague, Carlos Bravo (with Knight Piesold: Lima/Peru | Denver/Colorado), in his role as on-site geologist and field operations manager, was indispensable to the successful implementation of the project plan. He not only organizes a lot of things for the project (thus for us), but also actively participates in various field operations at the mine site - such as the recent GEO-MRI | NMR drill hole logging with Vista-Clara Inc. technology.

Carlos Bravo, with Knight Piesold (Lima-Peru/Denver-USA) in action as field manager and assistant for the GEO-MRT | NMR logging measurements using Vista-Clara Inc. technology. His support was indispensable for the high success value of the project in the Yanacocha Mine/Peru. Of course, this also applies to the entire Knight-Piesold team, consisting of HSE managers, electricians, and drivers. The mine operator ( NEWMONT ) has certainly provided the appropriate basic conditions for this success story.

It didn't take long for Carlos to pick up all the tricks of the trade from the very experienced Vista-Clara Inc. (ex-Schlumberger) downhole logging engineer, Neil Dunn. So we took the chance right away and co-prepared Carlos for the next measurement cycle (May/June 2023). Whether software and/or hardware, Carlos can now fully collaborate on the project - which will ultimately save everyone time and money.

Our extra efforts for such an intensive training during the short measurement week at the Yanacocha mine thus form, in a way, a "blueprint" for a general "training program" to carry out future GEO-MRI | NMR logging projects with Vista-Clara Inc. technology in other regions (including in Germany | Europe) in a time & cost effective way.

As a service provider, you always want customers like Knight Piesold with highly motivated and competent employees/colleagues who are also super nice!

Exceptionally strong teamwork, good planning, organization and implementation of the same, have generated a high success value for all parties involved in the GEO-MRI | NMR borehole logging venture at the Yanacocha Mine/Peru. This also includes the accident-free execution of all necessary work steps - from equipment | personnel transport, as well as conducting the experiments sometimes at 4,000+ m. above sea level. This especially concerns the potential danger of thunderstorm fronts, which can occur very quickly in the region (in our case this happened on the 5th day of the measurements). Everyone was happy and satisfied in the end when everything was completed.

Chapeau to Knight Piesold & Vista-Clara Inc. for this great cooperation!
