The 4,000 mile long NMR Roadside Service Round Trip is over! Unfortunately, because it was really an incredibly exciting and, of course, educational/experience-gaining tour through the Wild West of the USA. It ended a bit earlier than anticipated because our final project in Northern California had to be postponed. (Of course I hope that I can join our team when the time comes...)

Arriving back home in beautiful Ismaning | Bavaria, at first I had to digest a bit the many impressions of this tour – the moments of hard labor in the mountains of Colorado, thereafter in the desert heat of Utah and Arizona, always crossing and marveling at stunning landscapes while being mentally connected to our home in Germany with a growing visualization about what we can do with Vista-Clara Inc.’s innovative GEO-MRI | NMR technology anywhere in Europe.

Unfortunately a bit earlier than anticipated, as it was fun, highly productive, successful and instructive. Teamwork with the Vista Clara team in Mukilteo | north of Seattle, was again robust and resilient. No breakdowns, no accidents, no lost devices. Man | Machine(s) landed safely back at the company's headquarters after almost 3 weeks of laboring and touring through this part of North America.

The long journey from Arizona via California | Oregon, and finally back to Washington State was just as impressive as all the previous travel legs since the departure from Mukilteo | north of metropolitan Seattle.

Fig. 2: The large saguaro cacti in the Arizona desert were another visual highlight on the long way home, and are almost considered living “landscape monuments”. In addition, there is a large geological and biological legacy in this region in the form of dinosaur bones of all kinds (at this gas station in the form of anthropogenic micro/macrofossils - some originated via the long detour from mining operations, others through the petrol station hose in form of gasoline...) On the route to Southern California, large areas are literally paved with solar cells, which alternate with wind turbine fields. And a murderous desert, in which people regularly disappear without a trace and never to be seen again.

Whether it was the large Saguaro Cacti in Arizona, the murderous sand and mountain desert landscape of Southern California, or the beautiful descent to the Pacific Coast, the onward journey to Sacramento, and from there through Mount Shasta National Park into Oregon to Washington State (here, of course, passing by the Mount St. Helens National Park): there were always lots of vistas on the seemingly long and winding road back to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Fig. 3: Two days of relaxation in the “Home Office” in Del Mar, north of San Diego, amid the very cultivated and pleasant lifestyle of urban Southern California (also when it comes to culinary aspects – well, pick your choice...). The Eagles' melancholic "Hotel California" rock classic still fits perfectly well into the landscape and matches the mood and atmosphere today.

Unfortunately, the famous volcano Mount St. Helens was hiding behind clouds that day. At the very end of this long journey, I certainly enjoyed driving again through the impressive Seattle skyline. A perfect finish line to this NMR-Logging Roadside Service Tour!

Fig. 4: On the way from Del Mar (north of San Diego) to Northern California, through Mount Shasta National Park, and with a short detour to Mount St. Helens National Park (Washington State), you ultimately find yourself back at the starting point in Seattle – certainly a metropolitan pearl of the Pacific Northwest.

From downtown Seattle it's only a short hop to Mukilteo | headquarters of Vista-Clara Inc. Upon arrival, it was time to head back home to our beautiful Ismaning | Bavaria.

In Sum | Conclusion:

In addition to the extraordinary wealth of experience of this trip and the undoubtedly important and necessary NMR measurements at the various borewell logging sites, there remains a drop of bitterness, along with the open question of how much energy and earth's resources were devoured on this long journey.

Ultimately, there's probably only one thing that may help for our individual and collective future: “Keep moving while improving | Innovate | Optimize | Focus” on reducing this type of environmental impact while doing something that is actually use- and helpful to our Humana raca.
